Jackson, MS— The Carlos Moore Law Group is representing Jessica Mason following a troubling incident involving Jackson Police Department Officer Denika Trene Johnson on September 8, 2024. The incident, which occurred in the parking lot of Lucky Shots Bar around 12:20 a.m., escalated from a verbal confrontation to physical violence, raising serious concerns about police conduct and accountability.
Eyewitness accounts and video evidence from Mason’s sister suggest that Officer Johnson was called to the scene to clear the parking lot but became agitated when Mason engaged her in conversation. During the encounter, both parties exchanged heated comments, which culminated in Officer Johnson allegedly slapping and then punching Mason while she was seated in her vehicle.
“We are deeply concerned about the actions of Officer Johnson, which appear to be an abuse of power,” said Attorney Carlos Moore. “It is imperative that law enforcement officers act with professionalism and respect toward the community they serve. Our firm is committed to seeking justice for Jessica and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.”
The incident raises questions about the appropriateness of Officer Johnson’s presence at the bar and her conduct during the confrontation. According to a 911 dispatcher, the officer was not assigned to that area, as confirmed by a police captain.
The Carlos Moore Law Group is currently investigating this matter and will pursue all necessary legal actions to ensure that Jessica Mason’s rights are protected and justice is served.
